About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and technically versatile Site Engineer to support day-to-day operations at our data center in Ghent. This hands-on role bridges facility engineering and IT connectivity tasks, ensuring the smooth functioning of infrastructure, services, and customer support.

Reporting to the Data Center Lead, the Site Engineer will play a key role in maintaining uptime, supporting customer deployments, resolving incidents, and managing both physical infrastructure and connectivity operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on critical systems, including power, cooling, and BMS.
  • Monitor the site through Building Management Systems (BMS), identifying and resolving anomalies or alarms.
  • Support customer installations, cross-connects, remote hands services, and troubleshooting requests.
  • Ensure proper cable management and accurate labelling / documentation of all customer-related activities.
  • Coordinate with and supervise third-party vendors for repairs and scheduled maintenance.
  • Request quotes and budgets for necessary work, and verify completion reports from vendors.
  • Maintain clear and timely records of site activity, customer interventions, and incidents.
  • Respond to urgent alarms or technical issues, both remotely and on-site, as part of an on-call rotation (one week at a time).
  • Ensure strict adherence to operational, health & safety, and security procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the Data Center Lead and wider operations team to deliver a seamless customer experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in critical environments such as data centers, maritime, offshore, or oil & gas sectors.
  • Technical knowledge across both mechanical / electrical systems and IT connectivity operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work autonomously under pressure.
  • Basic understanding of IT networks, cabling standards, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation and reporting.
  • Fluency in English is a must; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
