Our client is the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL ). ECL is the umbrella organization of cancer leagues across the WHO European region and a driving force to advance cancer prevention, access to medicines and patient empowerment, as well as to influence EU health policies. Founded in 1980, ECL is a non-governmental, non-profit organization, independent from commercial interest, with a Secretariat based in Brussels.

We are seeking a visionary and dynamic CEO to lead ECL into a new era of growth.

Main accountabilities :

  • Develop and execute ECL’s long-term strategic vision and plan.
  • Work closely with the Board in developing plans for the strategic development of the organization.
  • Manage the ECL office and oversee all activities and projects to ensure they align with the overall goals.
  • Provide leadership, including ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization and fundraise when necessary.
  • Act as the main spokesperson.
  • Advocate for the objectives of the organization and its members.
  • Promote the cancer agenda to EU institutions, members of the European Parliament, EU Commission officials and other relevant organizations.
  • Actively engage in networking activities.
  • Ensure a healthy membership and seek opportunities to recruit new members.

Profile requirements :

  • University degree in a relevant field to the position, including Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law etc.
  • Proven record of at least 10 years in a senior leadership position including financial planning and reporting to a Board or Executive Committee.
  • Very strong ability to manage high-performing teams of professionals across diverse positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans successfully.
  • Expertise in fundraising, strategic marketing and brand revitalization.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with big donors, alongside strong advocacy skills.
  • Experience in managing EU-funded projects.
  • Experience in presenting and chairing international meetings.

    • The ideal candidate should be a natural leader and motivator, who is passionate and very committed towards achieving ambitious goals.
