Senior Solaris Administrator

Location : Bruxelles

Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and coordinate activities related to the Solaris platform supporting critical applications and databases for a major financial institution.
  • Contribute to the migration project from SPARC architecture to modern infrastructure.
  • Ensure regular system maintenance, including operating system and security patch updates.
  • Provide advanced (Level 3) support for issues affecting the Solaris environment.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and resolution of complex software and hardware incidents.
  • Develop and implement automation tools and scripts to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date technical documentation (infrastructure design, procedures, incident handling, security standards, etc.).
  • Guide and support the development of a junior Solaris administrator, facilitating effective knowledge transfer.

Profile :

  • Expertise in high availability systems (clustering, redundancy, failover setups).
  • Automation proficiency using tools such as Ansible, Automated Installer, and custom packaging.
  • Strong background in IT security concepts and technologies (PKI, firewalls, directory services, network segmentation).
  • Solid scripting and development capabilities (bash, ksh, Perl, Git, Ansible).
  • Familiar with enterprise storage and backup systems (SAN, volume management, backup utilities).
  • Hands-on experience with common Solaris-hosted applications (Oracle DB, Apache, Tomcat, IBM MQ, etc.).
  • Effective team collaborator with strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Capable of working autonomously and taking initiative when needed.
  • Analytical, solution-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Precise, structured, and reliable in task execution.
  • Skilled in technical writing for documentation and operational guides.
  • Minimum of 10 years working with Solaris environments.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a DevOps or automation-driven role.
