Advise and support the mechanical maintenance supervisors during plant upsets, equipment failure, and shutdowns regarding material selection, best practices, and international standards.
Develop and implement a process to continuously evaluate equipment reliability and set up a system for sustainable improvement of equipment reliability in close cooperation with the plant asset manager and maintenance manager.
Set up a sustainable work process and relevant procedures to maintain and improve the site piping classes.
Establish standard mechanical specifications to support the process engineer and maintenance staff in purchasing new equipment.
Support the process engineer, inspection department, and purchasing group throughout the entire process of purchasing new equipment, including the engineering phase, vendor selection, documentation review and approval, intermediate inspections, and factory acceptance tests.
Develop mechanical maintenance policy and strategy in close cooperation with the maintenance manager.
Analyze major or recurring problems and propose solutions to the maintenance manager.
Audit existing suppliers regularly regarding their adherence to high client HSEQ and technical standards in close cooperation with the purchasing group.
Select, audit, and approve new suppliers or technologies.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and procedures about the plants and provide instructions on their use.
Define, control, and improve maintenance KPIs.
Ensure HSE excellence.
Assure legal compliance, safety, and integrity of the installation.
Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and history of the installation.
Stimulate employees’ safety awareness continuously and invite them to participate in improvements.
Promote and comply with the 20 SHE Principles.
Train and exchange lessons learned from incidents.
Ensure high reliability of the plant.
Determine the maintenance planning in the medium term, balancing preventive and curative actions.
Analyze production losses due to equipment failures.
Prioritize and decide on repairs, improvements, and preventive maintenance to assure the plant’s capacity and reliability.
Promote innovation, maintenance, and continuous improvement within the unit.
Participate actively in the “management of change.”
Manage fixed costs.
Assure compliance with fixed costs and maintenance budget.
Timely budget significant expenditures such as turnarounds to avoid unexpected budget overruns.
Discuss and disclose contracts with contractors, and follow up on costs. Participate in the annual assessment of suppliers and contractors.
Evaluate material stock requirements to ensure high reliability of the plant at minimal working capital.
Be involved in site strategy and important projects such as debottlenecking, growth potential, and Capex planning. Propose improvement projects.
Minimum Requirements
Level of education & experience : Civil Engineer or equivalent through experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and / or maintenance techniques.
Language skills : Dutch, English, and French.
Technical skills : Broad technical knowledge and some understanding of chemical processes; strong analytical problem solver and troubleshooter; conceptual and strategic thinking; project management expertise; knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
