The Director, IT Services Europe position is part of the Information Technology team. The incumbent will coordinate all the IT services provided in Europe including ERP, Infrastructure, and Support services consistent of internal and external resources. The incumbent will work directly with business executives and IT leadership team to define long-term enterprise technology strategies and roadmap. Embed and support the processes in a standards-based environment, deployed globally and accessible across the organization.

This role is based in Antwerp, Belgium but will have responsibilities for European locations with travel requirements ranging from 20-30%.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, team members will report to the Global team in North America for their respective areas (ERP, Infrastructure, Service Desk, Security) and managed by the Director IT Services Europe for the day-to-day activities.
  • Lead and provide mentorship in conjunction with the Global team to the team to ensure they meet their operational and development goals.
  • Continuously identify and close skills and knowledge gaps of team members (internal and external).
  • Manage performance of direct reports. Set appropriate context and establish prescribed limits for subordinates, including setting an effective framework of policies and procedures for the work in the team.
  • Act as a mentor for team members by providing effective coaching to maximize performance, promote accountability, build shared knowledge and enhance the team environment.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision / values / business strategy; and managing succession and development planning.

Relationship Management

  • Develop strong and successful relationships with key contacts at all levels of the organization including Business Operations, Systems, and Executives to ensure internal / external client and stakeholders’ needs are not only met, but often exceeded.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders at different locations to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and consistency across all Operations, Support, and Project delivery processes.
  • Gather information from our internal customers (voice of the customer) to enhance the capabilities and improve the employee experience (EX) related to technology and service desk services.
  • Act as the escalation point for issues relating to operational issues and supplier performance or deviations from original work estimates etc. Taking appropriate actions to resolve the issues.
  • Strategy / Operations

  • Development of a strategic roadmap in conjunction with the Global team for IT Services components, ERP, Infrastructure, Service Desk, Security, etc.
  • Work closely with other IT Directors to ensure our technology complies with the company standards and support the company initiatives providing resources and expertise.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to meet operational, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Run day-to-day operations in a DevOps environment, supporting operations and providing out of the box solutions when required.
  • Ensure effective cost management for each technology and develop / manage budgets for support & related activities.
  • Manage the prioritization and mitigation of all risks related to the ongoing operation at all our locations, follow change management best practice and ensure >
  • 99.98 % availability.

    Define and drive solutions architecture principles, balance legacy and new technologies, and consider a hybrid environment (On-Prem and cloud) within budgetary limits to keep in line with strategic enterprise technology plans to support current and anticipated business needs.

    Assess industry and technology solutions to establish optimum systems architecture supporting advancement of the company objectives.

    Evaluate short-term or long-term priorities and develop actionable plans.

    Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, solution vendors, and end users to identify business requirements and translate these into technical specifications and architecture.

    Leverage external industry knowledge, standards, and advances to further internal objectives.

    Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications & Skills Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or another business-related field is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in an IT leadership role.
  • 15+ years of experience in a multi-location, global environment.
  • Project Management certification and MBA will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships at the Executive level (Director / VP / CXO levels) and leverage them to develop the strategic roadmap.
  • Broad cross-industry experience and technical domain expertise – industrial manufacturing sector experience an asset.
  • Firm understanding of global / regional data residency requirements at an enterprise level.
  • Effective leader who can facilitate executive-level meetings and positively influence outcomes.
  • Ability to lead and deliver complex projects including tight budgets with successful outcomes.
  • Evaluate staff to elevate high potential candidates for future development within our growing organization.
  • Establish and implement 'best practice' standards as well as departmental policies and procedures.
  • More than 10 years’ experience in international people management responsibilities including hiring, performance and compensation management, learning, and development.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring problem-solving skills.
