The European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual & Reproductive Rights (EPF) is recruiting a EU Policy Officer. This will be a full-time, permanent position. We believe that women should always have the right to decide upon the number of children they wish to have and should never be denied the education or other means to achieve this that they are entitled to. Job Description Drive the EU's development policies, with a special emphasis on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs) :
- Champion the importance of SRHR to Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and raise awareness about the need to enhance EU Overseas Development
- Assistance (ODA) for SRHR.
- Organize events in collaboration with MEPs, both within the European Parliament and in other locations, to highlight the significance of EU ODA for SRHR.
- Arrange study tours to Low- and Middle-income Countries, in coordination with colleagues, to showcase the EU's development efforts related to SRHR.
Monitor developments, cultivate and advance alliances within the European Parliament :
Stay updated on the latest developments in relevant committees such as DEVE, FEMM, CONT, BUDG, LIBE, and others, and build relationships with MEPs to garner support for SRHR initiatives.Propose innovative policy solutions that will further advance the EU's ODA, with a specific focus on SRHR.Manage, support and develop the secretariat of the MEP for SRR working group :
Assist in the functioning of an active MEP working group dedicated to SRHR, known as MEPs for SRR, providing comprehensive support.Collaborate with colleagues and partners to advance intra-EU SRHR themes in the European Parliament :
Liaise effectively with colleagues to promote and advocate for other SRHR-related topics within the European Parliament.Collaboration with the SRHR – allies and partners at the EU level.Represent the organization in key coalitions and consortia :
Actively participate, alongside other EPF colleagues, in influential coalitions and consortia to further the objectives of the organization.o Engage in original research on EU ODA for SRHR :
Undertake research projects, such as the Donor Atlas for SRHR, to gather valuable insights and data on EU ODA in relation to SRHR.Skills and Qualifications
Essential :
At least three years professional experience.Strong knowledge and understanding of EU policies and institutions, particularly in the field of development policies and SRHR.Excellent advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence MEPs, the EU institutions, stakeholders, and partners.Research proficiency, including the ability to gather, analyze, and present data.Experience in organising various events and study tours, including travel and event logistics.Willing to travel regularly for conferences and study tours.Ability to work with politicians from a broad cross-section of the political spectrum.Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.Fluency in English (additional EU languages are an asset).Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.Commitment to EPF’s vision and mission.Must be able to legally work in Belgium (if not a EU national, please provide proof of ability to work in the EU with your application).Desirable :
