This is a Europe-based role, at any of the following locations : Basel (Switzerland) or remote in UK, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden. Regular travel is required.

We are looking for a Global Head of Tax Technology (f / m / d) (80 – 100%) to join our team. The Global Head of Tax Technology will be an impactful member of the Global Tax & Trade function by shaping and building Lonza’s tax and trade automation journey. Also, as Lonza embarks on an ambitious S / 4HANA transformation program, the successful candidate will act as a direct stakeholder bridging the program and the Global Tax & Trade function. Together with a global and diverse program team, the Global Head of Tax Technology will take accountability for the success of the S4HANA implementation journey by driving standardization and automation of our tax and trade processes.

Your key responsibilities will include :

Tax and trade technology : Together with the Global Tax Leadership team, proactively develop a digital roadmap for the Global Tax & Trade function, covering all areas of tax (direct tax compliance, indirect tax determination, transfer pricing, tax accounting) and trade.
Drive the evaluation and implementation of state-of-the-art technology applications to improve efficiency and quality of the Group’s tax and trade processes as well as associated data analytics.
Closely collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. Global Tax & Trade, IT, Global Business Services, Finance, Supply Chain) and external stakeholders and vendors.
Leverage in depth understanding of the Group’s business needs to source best matching tax and trade technology solutions in the market.

S / 4HANA implementation :

Lead the tax and trade business process architecture throughout the entire S / 4HANA design and implementation lifecycle, ensuring adherence to tax and trade requirements; participate in other workstreams whenever relevant for tax & trade purposes.

Assess current tax and trade processes and identify opportunities for value-adding optimization and automation within S / 4HANA.

Gather tax and trade requirements and ensure problem and value statements are clearly articulated and fed into S / 4HANA design decisions.

Support analysis of business flows and supply chains to understand indirect tax determination needs for sales, purchase and inter company transactions and capturing and validating indirect tax outcomes.

Design tax and trade compliance test scenarios and analyze results to ensure solution design delivers against expectations.

Communicate effectively to the S / 4HANA program members and other stakeholders on tax & trade design requirements.

Foster collaboration and communication with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure alignment with project goals.

Develop and deliver training for end-users on tax-related functionalities within S / 4HANA and tax add-ons.

Key requirements :

Higher educational qualifications in Tax, Accounting, Finance, IT or a related field.

Practical experience in at least one area of tax (e.g. indirect tax); experience in more than one area of tax is a plus.

Experience with global ERP systems implementations, preferably S / 4HANA, along with tax / trade engines and digital tax reporting solutions.

Excellent project management and communication skills.

English (business fluent).
