Lead Counsel, EMEA Disputes
Meta is seeking an experienced regulatory lawyer to serve as lead counsel for the EMEA region. The position will support investigations, regulatory litigation, and engagement under various integrity-focused laws. The role requires strategic thinking, an appetite for complex, cutting-edge challenges, and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law. Responsibilities
Leading engagement and litigation strategy in contentious regulatory matters relating to integrity-focused laws across the EMEA region, including but not limited to the Digital Services Act, UK Online Safety Act, and the Irish OSMRA
Responding to regulatory inquiries and investigations, including driving strategic decisions, running internal fact‑finding investigations with partners across different teams and drafting responses based on such investigations
Partnering with key internal stakeholders such as policy and communications colleagues, business and product teams, operational teams and regional leadership
Supervising and directing external counsel on multiple legal matters
Engaging proactively in cross‑functional teams to provide internal legal advice across subject areas
Minimum Qualifications
Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable
EU‑qualified lawyer with 5+ years PQE in a law firm or relevant in‑house or regulatory experience
Demonstrated litigation and / or regulatory experience, including experience dealing with contentious matters, regulatory inquiries, investigations, and / or litigation, ideally across multiple jurisdictions
Demonstrated understanding and experience of integrity‑related laws including the EU Digital Services Act, the UK Online Safety Act, the Irish OSMRA, and other relevant regulations throughout EMEA
Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment and working with, managing, and coordinating colleagues, internal stakeholders, and the business
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in one or more European languages
