KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering Technology organises bachelor and master degrees in Engineering Technology on six campuses across Flanders, Belgium. This vacancy is situated in the research group Emerging technologies, Systems & Security at campus Diepenbeek.
Integrated circuits based on flexible thin-film transistors have received lots of attention due to recent progress and the pioneering aspect of multi-project wafers with thin-film transistor foundries. The targeted semiconductors for thin-film transistors are Indium-Gallium-Zinc-Oxide (IGZO) and low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS). IGZO is attractive due to a simple process flow and potential small channel lengths on flexible substrates. LTPS is attractive due to its high performance and the availability of complementary semiconductors. At the campus, we realize hybrid systems by smartly combining TFT-based IC design and traditional Si CMOS IC design.
Responsibilities
This job opening covers a research position for a postdoctoral researcher in the frame of an EU project on next-generation wearable healthcare patches based on hybrid Si CMOS / TFT electronics. As KU Leuven is coordinator of this project, the candidate will take the lead in the consortium, both technically and non-technically. Moreover, the candidate will take the lead in the system aspects of the electronic patches, while interacting with on-campus PhD researchers towards the design, implementation and validation of the designed circuits. The characterization occurs at our new ES&S lab at campus Diepenbeek. It will be important to understand the opportunities of the specific technologies, and to overcome the challenges related to the flexible technology.
