What does a Solution Architect do?

The INNOCOM Solution Architect is an architecture professional with strong knowledge and interest in Technology Architecture (Infrastructure, Application, Integration, and / or Data) and understanding of Business and Enterprise Architecture.

Description

Our Solution Architect roles are project-facing and provide two areas of support :

  • Business Focus : Ensuring the solution meets the business requirements.
  • Enterprise Focus : Ensuring that the enterprise requirements for reuse, compliance to standards, principles, traceability to enterprise reference models, and alignment with the target enterprise architecture vision are met.

Responsibilities

  • Define, document, and communicate the solution architecture.
  • Protect (own) the solution architecture and ensure its integrity and consistency.
  • Ensure timely delivery of stages for organizational progress.
  • Maintain synchronization between software and system architectures.
  • Act as the emissary of solution architectures.
  • Ensure stakeholders and management understand the architecture in necessary detail.
  • Oversee appropriate modeling to meet performance qualities.
  • Provide input on tool and environment selection as needed.
  • Identify and interact with stakeholders to address their needs.
  • Ensure the architecture is suitable for operations, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Resolve disputes and make trade-offs.
  • Address technical problems as they arise.

    • Experience

  • Excellent understanding of architecture / design patterns.
  • Knowledge of ArchiMate and Sparx is an asset.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design, aspect-oriented design, and test-driven design.
  • Knowledge of application security.
  • Familiarity with .NET, Java / JEE, OSGi, or similar industry-standard platforms.
  • Knowledge of database solutions.
  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated practices : configuration management, test management, build management, continuous integration, release management, etc. Knowledge of DevOps and continuous delivery is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and related technologies like web services, XML / SOAP, enterprise service bus, security standards, etc.
  • Knowledge of cloud concepts (Hybrid, Private, Public) and cloud software such as Azure & AWS.
