Lungs EuropeBelgiumEstablished in November 2019, Lungs Europe allows two important European organistions – European Lung Foundation (ELF) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) - to work in partnership and with all stakeholders in the respiratory field to drive policy and the regulatory environment in support of lung health at the European level. Lungs Europe is well placed to play a significant role in EU funding programmes and projects related to respiratory health and disease.ELF is a patient-led organisation that works internationally to bring patients and the public together with healthcare professionals to improve lung health and advance diagnosis, treatment and care. ERS is the largest scientific and clinical organisation in respiratory medicine in Europe. Its members are scientists, clinicians, allied healthcare professionals and other experts from around the world. Candidates should display flexibility and show an ability to adapt and become acquainted with various ELF and ERS projects and policies if necessary. This individual will be based in Brussels, reporting to the Lungs Europe Secretary General in Sheffield, UK, and the Director of Advocacy and European Affairs in Brussels, Belgium.Main responsibilities :
- Contribution to advocacy activities such as preparing presentations, drafting speeches, writing editorials and newsletters for ELF network / patient advisory groups.
- Co-ordination of projects – from providing support to internal working groups and committees (agendas / minutes) to coordinating external EU projects
- Comprehensive delivery of high-quality EU policy events for ELF network / patient advisory groups. Profile and requirements :
- Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant discipline, e.g. health / research
- Minimum of 3 years work experience, preferably in the healthcare, or association management field
- Understanding of the European institutions
- Experience and high tolerance of working in a hierarchical structure
- Good knowledge of medical / research / health policy issues
- The ability to plan your own work, work on your own initiative and to deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Ability to distil complex ideas quickly in order to articulate these to relevant audiences internally and externally
- Reliability, honesty, tact and discretion
- Ability to work as part of a small team
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
- Knowledge of additional languages is a plus
- Work experience in an international environment Lungs Europe offers an excellent package according to the Belgian legislation and social security requirements.
