Context :

Trading Power Department overview :

The power sector is undergoing fundamental change. In particular, three major trends, the 3 D’s, are driving this reshaping : decarbonization, decentralization and digitalization. Trading Power department has the ambition “to accelerate the energy transition through market solutions”. It is actively managing renewable market risks in CWE (Germany, France, Netherlands & Belgium) on aggregation of wind (onshore / offshore) and photovoltaic renewable production (7000 MW under management).

Renewable Operations team depending of the Trading Power department is responsible for :

  • Ensuring the smooth running of Renewable Trading Power operations
  • Providing the relevant tools to actively manage contracts owned by Renewable Trading Power
  • Facilitating the production of reports and analysis on data
  • Support GECs & INT (GEM renewable trading activities outside CWE) by deploying and adapting Renewable Operations tools to their specific environment
  • Ensure a high data quality from assets under management
  • Role : Challenges :

    Actively contribute to the Renewable Trading Power P&L and deployment of Renewable Operations applications in GEMs teams :

  • Leveraging on a strong knowledge of CWE portfolio and operations to support Renewable Trading Power to maximize the P&L
  • Always looking for operational excellence and in a real-time environment
  • Using scripting skills to manage the portfolio and manage specific IT developments to meet evolving market requirements and
  • Build a strong knowledge of Renewable Operations / GEM tools to ensure their correct implementation and support for GECs & INT activities
  • Mission / Main Activities :

  • Ensure the right representation of Renewable Trading Power contracts in IS systems in order to provide the trading desk with the correct portfolio position and ensure the correct real-time position exposure
  • Communicate with park owners to gather operational / technical issues and inform the most accurate information to forecaster
  • Interact with service providers to maintain existing data flow
  • Implement new data flow with traders and service provider
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders (M&S, Finance, Intraday Trading, Dispatch and others) to ensure their operational needs can be correctly addressed
  • Apply data management best practices and be the guardian of data quality
  • Contribute to operation process improvements and automation in close collaboration with IS
  • Follow up IS development and ensure the outcome is the expected results
  • Keep a high knowledge of automated IS process to investigate operational issues and ensure daily CWE or GECs & INT operations run smoothly
  • Support the deployment of Renewable Operations tools in GECs & INT to give necessary training to new teams, support the initial setup and daily operations in case of questions or problems
  • Identify GECs & INT specificity and propose developments to improve Renewable Operations tools for all stakeholders
  • Make part of a team of 6 motivated people
  • Qualifications :

  • The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in engineering, business engineering, mathematics or physics.
  • 3 year in portfolio management and data analysis
  • Familiar with Finance and / or Energy fields
  • Experience in coding and scripting with Python
  • Experienced in working closely with IT
  • Data management skills
  • A strong focus on business outcomes
  • Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders
  • Fluent English is required German, Dutch or French is a plus.
