Position : Senior Data Engineer

Location : Leuven, Ghent or Antwerp, Belgium

Languages : Fluency in English is required, with knowledge of French or Dutch.

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our innovative team in Belgium. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and architectures to support advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, scalability, and performance across a variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Data Architecture & Pipeline Development : Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing solutions to meet business needs.
  • Data Modeling : Create and manage complex data models to support analytical and operational reporting needs.
  • Big Data Solutions : Implement big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka to handle large-scale datasets and enable advanced analytics.
  • Cloud Integration : Build and manage data architectures on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), ensuring scalability and security.
  • Data Quality & Governance : Establish and enforce data quality standards, governance policies, and best practices across all data platforms.
  • Performance Tuning : Continuously monitor and improve the performance of data systems and applications.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Mentorship : Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience :

    5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of building and managing large-scale data architectures.

  • Strong expertise in ETL processes, data warehousing, and data pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience working with big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform) for automating data workflows.
  • Skills :

    Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work on complex data challenges.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
  • Bonus Skills :

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  • Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and MLOps practices.
