The candidate :

  • Should have obtained a PhD in communication sciences or social sciences.
  • Has an academic profile related to (digital) media effects and psychology (e.g., demonstrated by publications, PhD-thesis).
  • Has published in international, peer-reviewed academic journals
  • Has ample experience with quantitative and qualitative methods
  • Is able to fluently teach / write in English and Dutch
  • Has prior experience in supervising master theses

We offer a one-year position as a postdoctoral assistant in teaching.

The candidate will be asked to teach various courses. Examples of potential courses that will be asked to teach are Social Marketing, Children and Media, Quantitative Research Seminar 1 and Quantitative Data Analysis. Knowledge of R is necessary to develop course material and student exercises.

In addition to teaching courses, the candidate will also be expected to collaborate with members of the lab to further develop the current research lines, work together on data analysis (e.g., ESM data on sexual media use), set up new projects, and co-author publications in the field of media psychology.

The candidate will further supervise master theses in the master program Communication Sciences at KU Leuven.

Within this context, Media Psychology Lab is looking for a postdoctoral teaching assistant.

A 1-year contract as a post-doctoral assistant that preferably starts on 1 October 2025. Salary (barema 44) and benefits are in line with the university salary scales for post-doctoral staff.
