Electrical Design Engineer - English mandatory + French or Dutch - ALTEN Belgium

The Position

As part of our ongoing growth, we are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our teams and work on client projects located in Brussels.

As an Electrical Design Engineer, your main responsibilities will include :

  • Design and manage studies for HV substations, grid connections, LV and protection systems
  • Develop and apply knowledge in HV, MV, and LV system design (one-line diagrams, functionalities)
  • Specify and integrate transformers, reactors, GIS, switchgear, and other substation components
  • Design LV auxiliary systems : UPS, inverters, batteries, diesel generators, and distribution boards
  • Define protection concepts and design protection / control panels for various systems
  • Design earthing systems, lightning protection, and HV / MV / LV cable layouts
  • Ensure proper integration across electrical, mechanical, and civil interfaces
  • Prepare technical specifications, tender files, comparison and commissioning reports
  • Oversee FAT and SAT activities; supervise installation and commissioning on-site
  • Manage technical, commercial, and administrative follow-up of contracts

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering, preferably with focus on Power Systems
  • 0–2 years of experience in Transmission and Distribution systems
  • Proficient in English, with French or Dutch as a second language
  • Motivated and eager to learn, with strong interest in HV / MV systems and equipment
  • Open to related fields : system studies, protection, and substation automation
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively
  • Team player with a customer-focused mindset
  • Analytical and systematic approach to work
  • Strong sense of responsibility regarding project planning, finances, and knowledge sharing
