You have obtained a master’s degree, or are equivalent through experience.You have some affinity with higher education and are interested in educational regulations and organisation and in duties linked to the preparation and implementation of policy.If you have experience in curriculum development, especially regarding internal and external procedures and policy regarding academic programmes, you are immediately employable.You have an analytical, critical and creative mindset and you are good at analysing and solving complex issues.You can provide both oral and written overviews of these analyses and you can express yourself well, both in an oral and written format, in both English and Dutch.You are skilled in using IT tools and applications.You are eager to learn and adapt easily in a dynamic environment.You can cooperate well in a self-managing team and take ownership of your tasks.Your responsibilities are flexible and you will take up duties in different teams of the department, depending on the needs and taking into account your competences and fields of interest.You might take up duties in one or more of the following domains :
- Providing teaching staff members and educational coordinators (teaching staff members, assistants, teaching teams, educational developers ...) with advice and support in the curriculum design, implementing (innovative) teaching formats and educational technologies in their teaching and on the design and format of their face-to-face and blended education.
- Providing teaching staff members and educational coordinators with advice and support on creating educational audio, video and animation projects.
- Supporting in the design and development of quantitative and qualitative tools to provide insights into educational data.
- Supporting working groups, policy bodies or committees in their activities. This can include preparing the content for meetings, drawing up policy texts, or organising the practical coordination, administrative preparation and follow-up for meetings.
- Stimulating the development of a quality culture across the institution and in all its study programmes through intervisions and dialogues with educational actors. Coaching programme directors and faculty policy advisers in the development of their own quality assurance system. Monitoring the quality assurance system and analysing potential risks in the quality of education.
- Monitoring one or more teaching and learning process (e.g. individual study programme (ISP), individual examination schedule (IER), student statuses, admissions policy, academic progress monitoring ...), and detecting needs and policy questions in the context of these processes based on data analysis or based on conversations with users. You translate these needs into changes in both the supporting IT-tools and the procedures. You streamline the innovative projects originating from these changes.
- Providing substantive support for your team operation within the department as a whole, according to the applied cooperation methods and in accordance with the planning system.
Teaching and Learning Services works on preparing, implementing and monitoring all aspects of educational policy at KU Leuven.From its university-wide position, Teaching and Learning Services combines activities which focus on : - teaching and learning processes- teaching and learning development- teaching and learning strategy.As a policy adviser, you will be engaged in one of the teams within those activity groups according to the needs, taking into account your talents and competences.Preferably, you are available soon for assignments on curriculum development, online course creation and lifelong learning.
