Construction Manager (m/w)

As part of a mission for one of our clients operating in the food and beverage industry, we are looking for a hands-on Construction Manager to support the project and procurement teams in the preparation and execution of on-site construction work. Acting as the Client's main on-site representative, you will independently coordinate multi-disciplinary contractors, maintain overall control of site activities, and ensure full compliance with safety, schedule, and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Site Representation & Contractor Management: Act as the main Client representative on site, coordinating, supervising, and managing all multi-disciplinary contractors and subcontractors.
• Planning & Progress Monitoring: Track overall construction progress against the schedule, review detailed execution plans, identify bottlenecks early, and enforce corrective/recovery actions.
• Technical Follow-Up & Constructability: Ensure works comply with the latest approved drawings, coordinate technical queries/RFIs with the engineering team, and resolve constructability issues.
• Scope & Change Control: Monitor design and scope modifications, ensuring changes are properly vetted and never independently approved if they impact cost, schedule, or technical concept without prior client sign-off.
• Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC): Monitor construction quality via regular inspections, oversee testing, follow up on punch lists and non-conformities, and support mechanical completion.
• HSE & Safety Enforcement: Champion safety compliance, ensure works follow risk assessments and permits, and actively participate in safety walks, audits, and HSE coordination meetings.
• Interface Coordination: Manage complex interfaces between civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation activities to prevent conflicts on site.
• Meetings & Formal Reporting: Lead regular construction meetings, maintain action lists, and prepare concise progress reports detailing performance, risks, and delays.
• Pre-Commissioning & Handover: Coordinate the transition from construction to pre-commissioning, supervise punch-list clearance, and assist with final acceptance and project close-out.
• Procurement & Administrative Support: Support project teams during contractor prequalification, review tender documents, track contractor resources, and help issue site instructions or orders.

Profile

• Technical degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• Significant experience as a Construction Manager, Site Manager, Area Construction Manager, or Senior Construction Supervisor on industrial projects.
• Strong background managing contractors in chemical, petrochemical, energy, process industry, or comparable industrial environments.
• Good multidisciplinary understanding of industrial construction activities spanning civil, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, contractor management, HSE regulations, and QA/QC principles, with the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Comfortable working independently within a small client organization, taking ownership of day-to-day site coordination, and making practical decisions.
• Strong communication, stakeholder-management, and reporting skills; pragmatic, proactive, and solution-oriented.
• Fluent in English, with working knowledge of French and/or Dutch
