COMPLIANCE MANAGER
JOB OUTLINE :
Location : UK (Theale, Reading) or Belgium (Geel, Antwerp)
Working Arrangement : Hybrid - 3 days a week in the office
Reports to : Head of European Distribution
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES :
- Build, roll out, and maintain trade compliance policies and procedures so we’re always in line with EU, UK, and local laws.
- Run regular checks and audits to spot any gaps and take action to fix them.
- Be the go-to person for advice and training on compliance, helping everyone understand the rules and keep things above board.
- Keep an eye on changes to European regulations and update our processes so we stay ahead of the game.
- Work closely with our head office team in Japan to making certain our European operations meet all legal requirements.
- Be the main contact for regulatory bodies, ensuring reports and filings are done accurately and submitted on time.
- Team up with other departments, including customs, legal, finance, and operations to tackle compliance issues and put the appropriate controls in place.
- Identify potential breaches of compliance and take the right steps to sort them out.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :
Specific Skills Required
A degree in business, law, finance, or something similar (Master’s preferred but not essential). Or Demonstrable experience in compliance (5 yrs), regulatory affairs, or a related field — ideally in Europe.Excellent knowledge of the relevant regulations and how they apply in practice.Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset — you’re great at untangling complex rules and seeing how they affect the business.A proven track record of creating and leading compliance programs in Europe.Relevant certification preferred (i.e. Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional).Experience of working with multiple entity “Group” situationsConfident to report information concisely to senior managementExperienced in dealing with sensitive informationAttributes Required
