Mission

The security postures recommended today are no longer solely focused on locking down infrastructure, but emphasize recognizing potential prior compromise and focusing on the detection of when and how intrusions occur.

The student will play a role in enhancing the security of our cloud solution, the Talk2M infrastructure, by focusing on the detection and post-mortem analysis of intrusions.

This will involve contributing to the design and implementation of solutions for the rapid detection, effective understanding, and efficient response to attacks. The student will participate in the implementation of security measures, including the integration of detection tools, the improvement of logging systems, and the development of incident response procedures.

Master's Thesis Project

This internship is ideally suited for a Master's thesis project.

The primary mission, which involves improving the security of the Talk2M infrastructure from a detection and post-mortem analysis perspective, provides a strong foundation for in-depth research and a substantial thesis.

The project will potentially include the following aspects (depending on the student's skills) :

  • Integration of the open-source tool "Suricata" into Talk2M for rapid detection and blocking of attack patterns or data extraction.
  • Centralization of logs in local pools with the ability to integrate them into an ELK (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash) solution.
  • Implementation of automated procedures based on Amazon / OVH tools for evidence capture (virtual machine snapshots, memory dumps, disks).
  • Setup of deception strategies, such as redirecting "offensive" traffic to decoy systems.

Desired Profile

We are seeking a Master's level student in Engineering with a specialization in :

  • Cybersecurity
  • Network Security
  • Computer Science, with a strong focus on security

    • The ideal candidate will have :

  • A strong interest in cybersecurity and the challenges related to protecting critical infrastructures.
  • Solid knowledge of network and security principles.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Linux, Windows) and cloud environments (AWS, OVH).
  • Knowledge of security tools and technologies (e.g., IDS / IPS, SIEM) is a plus.
  • Programming skills (e.g., Python, Java) are a plus.
  • Initiative, a strong learning drive, and a proactive approach to expanding technical knowledge.
  • A structured approach to problem-solving and motivation to tackle complex challenges.
