Location : Brussels

Team : Security & Risk, IT Platform

Language Requirement : Dutch (CEFR level C2)

Experience Level : Junior, Medior or Senior (5+ years)

About the Role

Are you passionate about protecting information assets and shaping security strategies? Our client is looking for a Junior / Medior / Senior Information Security Consultant to strengthen its internal ISMS and contribute to the overarching Flemish information security policy (ICR – Information Classification Framework).

In this role, you will be the go-to expert for information security, working closely with a wide range of stakeholders—from management and developers to external partners and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and oversee information security across the organization.
  • Translate organizational security needs into actionable security measures.
  • Develop and maintain security plans, risk analyses, monitoring, incident registration, tools, training, and evaluations.
  • Conduct strategic and tactical risk assessments and support asset-level risk analysis.
  • Monitor and report on information security risks.
  • Lead security and awareness initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain a documented knowledge base on information security.

Your Expertise

Must-Have Experience :

  • 5+ years as a Security Consultant in environments such as data, infrastructure, or applications.
  • Proven experience in :
  • Demonstrable experience with industry standards and methodologies, e.g. ISO 31000 and ISO 27005
  • Developing and implementing ISMS in line with ISO 27001.
  • Performing both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
  • Security governance and process optimization.
  • Security frameworks and methodologies (e.g., ISO 27000 series, COBIT, NIST, OWASP, CIS Controls).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., NIS2).
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices.
  • Certifications such as CISM, CISSP, or CEH (depending on your area of expertise).

    • Language : Native-level Dutch (CEFR C2)

    Technical & Business Context

    You’ll support both internal operations and broader Flemish government initiatives. Your work will span policy development, ISMS implementation, risk management, and compliance processes. Experience with ISO 27001 certification and audits is a strong plus.

    You’ll collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders, tailoring your approach to their unique contexts and needs.
