Azure Data Engineer (SQL, API) – Finance – Brussels / Hybrid

My client is looking for a Cloud / Data Engineer to join the team on a freelance basis. You will provide application software development services and technical support in order to :

• Develop program logic for new applications or analyze and modify logic in existing applications, specifically on the Azure Cloud
• Code, test, debug, document, implement and maintain software applications
• Analyze requirements, and maintain, test and integrate application components
• Liaise with Technology Services teams to address infrastructure issues and ensure that the components and software used on the platform are all consistent
• Coach designers and developers across the company to aim for consistency in practices
• Be the SPOC regarding data platform technology matters; communicate to both business and technical audiences
• Experience in end-to-end integrating Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL & Azure API Management into applications
• Ability to write performant SQL statements
• Model and optimize datasets using SQL, Python, Scala / Java
• Proven knowledge of REST API, JSON, OAuth, CI / CD pipeline (with GIT) and web application architecture
• Databricks & Spark (structured streaming, performance tuning)
• Experience in SQL (advanced modelling and optimisation), Python and in Power BI (datasets & reports)
• Experience in .NET Core & C# development
• Detailed solution design and ability to drive implementation, familiar with DDD (Data Driven Design)
• Experience in delivering cross-functional multi-platform designs for mission‑critical contexts (real‑time criticality & high resilience)
• At least 5 years of experience in a development and / or design function, in a Windows ecosystem (mainly Azure cloud)
• Strong analytical thinking and interest in the financial industry
• Very good analysis & investigation skills; ability to break down complex problems and develop solutions
• Ability to design technical solutions that are fit for purpose whilst keeping options open for future needs
• Experience in working with customers and business partners to identify and clarify requirements
• Capable of working autonomously and in close collaboration within the team
• Have a true agile mindset : capable and willing to take on tasks outside of your core competencies to help the team
