Job Description
For future large construction projects at BESIX we are looking for experienced Contract Managers. This could be for Belgium, Europe or other international projects all around the world.
The Contracts Manager will be accountable for all contractual matters during the whole life of the projects followed by our different business units. From business opportunities to tender stage, contract negotiation and project execution and close out.
- During tender stage : lead the review, with the Legal department and the other involved departments of the contract Terms and Conditions.
- Provide analysis of the rights and obligations and propose the required amendments according to BESIX Standards.
- Prepare the necessary MoU’s, prebid JV / Consortium agreements, NDAs and any required contractual documentation in collaboration with the central support departments.
- Attend the project negotiation process in order to reach the best possible contract conditions.
- Prepare, negotiate and finalise the project JV / consortium agreement for the project.
- During the negotiation process, liaise on regular basis with LC&I department for key decisions and keep them informed.
- During the start-up stage of the new contract,assist the Project team to set up all the required procedures, templates, … in order to ease the professional management of the contract.
- Develop the required procedures that are not in place.
- Liaise with the support departments (LC&I, IMS, …) to have the contract documentation and deliverables ready on time.
- Prepare the suite of procurement documentation : subcontracts, service orders, purchase orders, …
- Review all main subcontracts and purchase orders.
- Prepare and give the initial contract briefing to the Project Team.
- Ensure initial follow-up of correspondence with the client.
- If applicable, ensure proper set-up of JV and control respect of JV obligations.
- During the project execution, he / she will be the point of contact to the Project Management in order to always keep a good view of the contract management of the project.
- Advise and / or assist in the preparation and negotiation of any subcontract when requested by the Project team.
- Assist and support the team with all contract changes, claims, litigations, …
- Prepare the required documentation, history, narrative, particulars,… when requested by the Project Management.
- Take part of the development of the contract management strategy when requested by the Project Management or the BU Management.
- Visit the projects on regular basis and report to the BU Management. He could also take part of peer review of projects.
- Training of engineers and managers on contractual matters and create aligned knowledge and approach within the BU.
- Be responsible for the reporting of all contractual matters to the BU Management and to the LC&I department according to BESIX rules.
- Report to BU International General Manager.
Qualifications
QS or Civil Engineer with interest for contractual matters;Minimum 5 years relevant experience, including FIDIC contracts;Experienced in leading international commercial negotiations dealing with clients and suppliers;Very good time management skills;Excellent negotiation and organizational skills;Problem solving skills;Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Very good knowledge of English, all other languages are an asset.You are preferably willing to work and live abroad.
