Job Description – SAS Developer (6‑Month Contract, Antwerp)

Location: Antwerp (2 days onsite per week)

Duration: ~6 months

Language Requirements: Dutch & English

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SAS Data Analyst / SAS Developer to support a major data transformation initiative. You will analyse existing SAS datasets, assess business logic, rationalise legacy data lists, and prepare the foundation for migration toward modern reporting tools such as Power BI.

This role plays a key part in phasing out legacy mainframe components and establishing a future‑proof data environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyse large volumes of SAS data originating from mainframe environments.
• Work with SAS EG to process, transform, and validate datasets.
• Conduct re‑engineering activities:
• Identify existing SAS data lists
• Assess their purpose, usage, and relevance
• Determine which lists are still required
• Support the migration of SAS datasets into a Power BI‑ready structure.
• Collaborate closely with stakeholders across Business, IT, and Finance.
• Ensure high standards of data quality, transparency, and compliance.
• Document findings, mappings, and recommendations for future architecture.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience working with SAS (SAS Base, SAS EG).
• Proven ability to analyse and interpret large datasets .
• Experience with data lineage, list analysis, and re‑engineering.
• Ability to explain complex data logic in a clear, understandable manner.
• Fluency in Dutch and English .
• Strong communication skills and team‑oriented mindset.

Nice to Have

• Good command of French (useful for collaboration with colleagues in Brussels).
• Experience with Power BI or modern BI/reporting tools.
• Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
• Experience in the insurance or financial services sector.
