The position requires an experienced individual specialized in trade compliance matters in the EMEA
Europe, Middle East and Africa) markets, with a proven track record in advising, guiding and implementing measures to manage and mitigate according to risks and processes. The individual will combine a deep substantive expertise in EMEA trade compliance matters with in house understanding of Medtronic’s business.
The position will report into the VP EMEA RLM Legal and will be closely cooperating with the CoE (Center of Excellence) for Global Trade Legal and Compliance, Global Trade Operations, Office of Ethics and Compliance and other Medtronic functions and business stakeholders.
For this role we would like you to be located in Heerlen, Netherlands (hybrid, 2 days in the office) or Belgium (hybrid, 2 days in the office in Heerlen, NL) or anywhere in Czech Republic (remote model) or Poland (remote model). Medtronic does not cover cost of relocation.
A Day in the Life
- Collaboratively work with Global Trade Operations (GTO) Global Trade Legal and Compliance (GTLC) in assessing, providing guidance and interpretation of trade sanctions, as well as export and import controls under any applicable EMEA trade compliance regime.
- Determine strategy and handle license applications under relevant EMEA regimes, coordinating and driving effective and efficient processes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the strategy and lead regional support to relevant stakeholders in handling enquiries from authorities on import and export matters relating to EMEA.
- Support GTLC and GTO on the review and roll out of policies and procedures on trade sanctions, export and import regulations affecting EMEA. Handle the review and approval of return and repair related activities, as well as training and education activities for sanctioned countries.
- Develop and support training, communication and awareness programs, in coordination with GTLC and GTO and other relevant departments, to educate employees on trade related requirements.
- Collaborate GTLC, GTO and Office of Ethics & Compliance along with other internal stakeholders in support of risk assessment, auditing and monitoring activities conducted by other Medtronic functions.
- Keep apprised of legal regulatory changes related to trade compliance and provide interpretation and implementation guidance to impacted internal stakeholders. Coordinate with outside counsel on trade sanctions matters in a cost-effective manner.
Must Haves
Bachelor’s or higher university degree.Specialization or Experience on EMEA Trade Compliance Matters.7+ years of broad project / program management experience on EMEA trade compliance matters.Fluent English (written and spoken). Strong written and verbal communication skills.Strong attention to details and commitment to quality, analytical thinkingExcellent legal skills and commercial acumen, solid judgment and integrity.Ability to work on various projects at same time; good priority setting skills.Proactive and collaborative approach, including driving processes in a complex environment.Team player, able to “build to bridges” and be “principled” at the same time.Proven influence management skills, both internal and external.Nice to Haves
