For our Short-Term Power Markets division, we are currently looking for an Algorithmic Trader (Renewables & Flexibility) (F/M/X) based in Brussels.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES as Algorithmic Trader:

As an Algorithmic Trader, you will play a key role in the development and execution of automated trading strategies across European short-term power markets. You will contribute to ENGIE's ambition of building a fully automated and data-driven trading environment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Develop and optimize algorithmic trading strategies for battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable assets and proprietary trading activities across Day-Ahead, Intraday and Ancillary Services markets.
• Own the full lifecycle of trading strategies, from signal research and back-testing to implementation, deployment and performance monitoring.
• Design, build and maintain robust, scalable and production-grade trading applications and frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with analysts, quantitative experts, traders and IT teams to transform market insights into automated decision-making tools.
• Continuously improve the architecture, reliability and performance of trading systems while ensuring low-latency execution capabilities.
• Support the development of hybrid algorithmic and manual trading approaches and identify new opportunities to generate value through automation and innovation.

YOUR PROFILE as Algorithmic Trader:

• Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fields.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in developing complex data-driven systems; experience in trading, commodities or energy markets is an asset.
• Strong programming and software engineering skills in Python, with experience using Git, SQL and modern software development best practices.
• Proven experience in data analytics, machine learning and building scalable analytical or decision-support systems.
• Strong problem-solving mindset, intellectual curiosity and ability to translate complex challenges into practical solutions.
• Collaborative, proactive and autonomous team player with excellent communication skills; knowledge of European power markets is considered a strong advantage.
