Business Developer - DACH Region

Shayp is a Brussels-based water intelligence company operating across nine European countries. We combine IoT sensors and AI-powered analytics to detect water inefficiencies and leaks in commercial, industrial and public buildings, helping utilities, insurers, real estate portfolios &corporates dramatically reduce waste and cost.

The DACH region is a strategic priority, with Germany as our initial launchpad. We are seeking a commercially driven Business Developer with business-fluent German to establish our presence in Germany before expanding into Austria and Switzerland.

This is a hunter role with a second, equally important dimension: building the supply side. You will both close new enterprise accounts directly, and identify, court and sign the large portfolio holders, housing associations, municipalities, facility managers with hundreds or thousands of buildings, who become the delivery backbone for our sponsor-funded stewardship projects. Both halves of the mandate matter equally.

Location

Germany-based (central/eastern Germany preferred). Fully remote-compatible. Regular travel within DACH, occasional travel to Brussels HQ.

Priority market

Germany first. Austria and Switzerland as expansion phase once Germany traction is established.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities

Demand side

• Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy for Germany first, expanding into Austria and Switzerland.
• Identify, qualify and close new enterprise accounts through direct outreach, events, and referrals.
• Lead commercial negotiations, structure deals that meet client needs and Shayp's growth objectives

Supply side

• Source, qualify and build senior relationships with large public-building portfolio holders (housing associations, municipalities, facility management companies) willing to enroll their portfolios in sponsor-funded water stewardship programs.
• Own these relationships end to end, from first contact to signed partnership to handoff for deployment.
• Represent Shayp at industry events and trade fairs across DACH, travel expected regularly.

Shared

• Build and manage a robust pipeline in HubSpot, with accurate forecasting.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO, Operations, Head of Sales, Head of Corporate Partnerships to align messaging, targets and deal economics.
• Contribute to pricing, localisation and go-to-market materials for the German-speaking markets

Requirements

Must-haves

• German at C1/C2 level, written and spoken.
• Proven track record building credibility and closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals with senior decision-makers, ideally including large asset owners, public institutions or infrastructure operators.
• Comfortable owning both a direct sales motion and a longer-cycle partnership-building motion in parallel.
• Strong working English; French a plus.
• A true swiss-knife: autonomous, resourceful, energised by building something from zero in a scale-up environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Existing network among housing associations, municipalities, facility management or utility decision-makers in Germany.
• Experience selling to real estate, infrastructure or sustainability-focused verticals.
• Familiarity with IoT, smart building or ESG/CSRD reporting.
• Experience at a Series A/B scale-u
