Electrical Expert - Substation Primary Equipment

Then this position as Electrical Expert is for you!
You'll join ENGIE Laborelec (R&I) and become part of a team of about 35 experts, where you will grow step by step into a subject matter expert on primary equipment of electrical substations.

Our team combines laboratory testing, technical investigations, and engineering expertise. We support ENGIE entities and external clients on battery and solar parks, HV transmission projects, nuclear activities, and grid‑related topics.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES as Electrical Expert

• Develop expertise in primary equipment of MV & HV substations (circuit breakers, disconnectors, terminations, surge arresters, cables).
• Perform root cause analyses (RCA) and failure investigations on switchgear for DSOs and the nuclear business line.
• Contribute to design reviews for BESS projects, solar parks, and HV transmission lines.
• Carry out laboratory testing, inspections, and technical assessments, with occasional on‑site witnessing.
• Review technical documentation and provide independent expert opinions.
• Collaborate closely with cable and transformer experts, as well as renewable, nuclear, and international business lines.
• Grow into a key reference within the team, supported by experienced mentors.

YOUR PROFILE as Electrical Expert

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Junior profile: trainee (from school) or up to 3 years of experience.
• Strong interest in MV & HV electrical equipment and substations.
• Affinity with hands‑on, equipment‑oriented engineering (lab + expertise).
• Working proficiency in Dutch and English; French is an asset.
• Curious, motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn from senior experts.
