Accountant

AsAccounting Coordinatoryou assume a key role within our financial organization. You are ultimately responsible for the general accounting (GL) of Client and ensure a correct timely and high-quality closing.

In addition you manage a small finance team providing direction while actively participating yourself. You combine strong technical accounting expertise with a high degree of maturity and the leadership skills to guide people even when challenging. You are capable of working independently setting priorities and making decisions within your area of responsibility.

Furthermore you are the point of contact for accounting within the organization and build a constructive relationship with the accounting team at parent company NIRAS.

This assignment has a limited duration of a few months. We are looking for a candidate who is immediately available and can be 100% physically present at the client site for the entire duration of the assignment.

Your responsibilities:

Accounting & closings:

• Full responsibility for general accounting from A to Z.
• Preparing and executing monthly quarterly and annual closings.
• Preparing the annual accounts and the file for the auditor.
• Executing and following up on various reconciliations (balance sheet accounts intercompany provisions).
• Monitoring the quality completeness and accuracy of the accounting records.
• Ensure correct analytical processing.

Taxation & compliance:

• Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
• Assisting with the corporate income tax return in collaboration with an external partner.
• Point of contact for audits by the auditor and the Court of Auditors.

Team Lead & Process Improvement:

• Managing and coaching a small finance team (2 transactional employees 1 junior GL accountant).
• Dealing constructively with team dynamics and guiding employees in their growth even when this is challenging.
• Oversee the efficient allocation of tasks and correct execution of operational processes. You actively take on a hands-on role in this and are willing to handle operational closing activities where necessary.
• Actively contribute to the optimization of processes internal controls and automation projects.
• Actively contribute to the alignment of processes and procedures with parent company NIRAS
• Initiating and following up on improvement projects within finance/accounting.

Business partnering:

• Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding accounting questions.
• Close collaboration with the corporate finance manager and the corporate business controlling manager.
• Collaboration with finance employees of the parent company
• Proactively identifying risks deviations or opportunities for improvement.

Your profile:

• Bachelor or Master in Accountancy Finance or equivalent through experience.
• At least 5-7 years of relevant experience in GL accounting or a senior accounting role.
• Demonstrable experience in managing a team and assuming a coordinating role.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian accounting law and VAT regulations.
• Experience with monthly and annual closings is essential.
• Knowledge of ERP systems (AX and D365 is a plus)
• High level of maturity and leadership skills to guide motivate and provide the necessary direction to a team.
• You work independently take initiative and are capable of making decisions within your area of responsibility.
• Hands-on mindset: you actively participate in closings and operational accounting activities and take ownership.
• Strong analytical skills accurate and quality-oriented.
• Communicative stress-resistant and able to handle different personalities.
• You can build and maintain relationships with colleagues.
• Available immediately or at very short notice.
• Willing to be100% physically presentat the site in Dessel for the entire duration of the assignment.
