Senior Actuary in Health and Non-Life Insurance - Brussels

For one of our clients, an established organisation active in health and non-life insurance, we are looking for an experienced Actuary. This position combines product development, pricing, reserving, profitability analysis and regulatory reporting. You will have direct exposure to management and contribute to both the evolution of existing insurance solutions and the development of new products. Your role As a Senior Actuary, you will perform the actuarial analyses, simulations and reporting required to ensure the financial sustainability of the insurance portfolio and compliance with regulatory requirements. Your scope will primarily cover health-related non-life insurance products, including hospitalisation and dental coverage. You will work across the full actuarial lifecycle: from product design and pricing to technical provisions, Solvency II calculations and profitability monitoring. Product Development & Pricing Perform actuarial and financial calculations, simulations and scenario analyses. Contribute to the design and development of new insurance products and guarantees. Analyse the financial impact and risk profile of proposed product developments. Define or validate pricing structures and premium levels for new and existing products. Ensure an appropriate balance between commercial positioning, risk and expected profitability. Recommend appropriate indexation levels based on product profitability and claims evolution. Assess technical provisions and, where relevant, reinsurance requirements. Prepare actuarial analyses supporting the actuarial function and management decision-making. Reserving – BE GAAP & Solvency II You will contribute to the calculation and governance of technical provisions under both Belgian GAAP and Solvency II. Your responsibilities include: Calculating and reviewing technical provisions in accordance with regulatory requirements. Ensuring the appropriateness of actuarial methodologies and underlying models. Assessing the completeness, reliability and quality of data used in actuarial calculations. Comparing Best Estimate assumptions with observed experience. Performing Analysis of Change (AoC). Reviewing assumptions and methodologies when portfolio behaviour evolves. Maintaining clear documentation of methodologies, models and actuarial assumptions. Profitability & Performance Analysis Monitor the profitability and financial performance of insurance products. Identify significant actual or expected deviations and formulate recommendations for management. Collect, validate and analyse portfolio and claims data. Maintain and enhance financial models supporting management decisions. Develop and update product-level P&L models, covering premiums, claims, technical provisions, expenses and financial income. Produce recurring profitability studies for active insurance products. Translate complex actuarial findings into clear recommendations for non-actuarial stakeholders. Reporting & Stakeholder Management You will work closely with Finance, Risk, Product and management and contribute to regulatory and internal reporting. Beyond producing calculations, you will be expected to interpret results, challenge assumptions and communicate their business implications clearly. Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or another quantitative discipline. At least 5 years of relevant experience within insurance. Strong understanding of Non-Life insurance. Experience with health insurance, specific risks or similar insurance products is an advantage. Good knowledge of Solvency II and BE GAAP. Experience in actuarial pricing, reserving and/or profitability analysis. Strong analytical mindset and ability to perform detailed quantitative analyses. Critical and intellectually curious approach. Comfortable working both independently and within a collaborative actuarial environment. Able to communicate actuarial conclusions clearly to different stakeholders. Good command of French and Dutch, with the ability to operate professionally in the second national language. Strong command of Excel and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of SAS is expected.
