Procurement & Project Support Consultant

A leading European organisation within the energy and infrastructure sector is looking for a Procurement & Project Support Consultant to provide operational support to its purchasing function and contribute to ongoing business improvement and project activities.

Working alongside internal teams and other consultants, you will play an important role in supporting efficient procurement processes and the delivery of projects within a complex, international environment.


Role & Responsibilities

Procurement Support

  • Provide administrative and operational support within the purchasing department.
  • Ensure close follow-up of the purchasing process and creation of purchase orders within agreed deadlines.
  • Support internal stakeholders and suppliers with purchase orders through SAP and SAP Ariba.
  • Create, modify and adapt purchase orders in SAP across different purchasing groups.
  • Create and follow up on contracts within SAP.
  • Monitor and manage functional mailboxes.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation and work closely with process improvement teams.

Project Support

  • Support the Project Manager with the day-to-day coordination and follow-up of project activities.
  • Monitor project progress, track action points and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and deliver project demonstrations to stakeholders and end users.
  • Develop, maintain and support training materials and user documentation.
  • Collaborate with international colleagues to ensure smooth project execution and alignment.
  • Act as a point of contact for users and stakeholders, providing guidance and answering project-related questions.
  • Prepare and distribute project communications, including updates, announcements, reminders and follow-up communications.


Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Good practical knowledge of SAP MM.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of SAP Ariba is an advantage.
  • Previous experience within procurement/purchasing processes is essential.
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to communicate confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team player who is willing to support colleagues when required.
  • Able to work autonomously and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and work with process owners to translate these into actionable business cases.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical, business or administrative discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

Languages

  • Fluent English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Fluent in Dutch/Flemish or French.

Practical Information

  • Location: Brussels, Belgium
  • Working model: Hybrid
  • Office presence: Minimum 2 days per week in the office
  • Contract: Freelance

Right to Work

For consultants working in Belgium, candidates from outside the EU must already have:

  • A valid work permit allowing them to work in Belgium.
  • A valid residence permit confirming their right to reside in Belgium.
