Financials/Controlling Product owner (ERP experience)

We are looking for Business facing Financials Product/Process Owners/Leads who have 5+ years ERP experience

Purpose of the Function

This role will own the vision and value delivery for the technology products that support our Finance and Controlling function. It will act as a dedicated business partner to Finance, Controlling and FP&A teams, translating their strategic needs around financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and performance management into a clear product vision and prioritized backlog of work.

This position is accountable for maximizing the business impact of our financial technology investments by providing clear direction to delivery teams, championing a cohesive user experience, and continuously measuring the value delivered back to the Finance and Controlling organisation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Actively partner with Finance, Controlling, FP&A teams and end-users to define and champion a clear vision for Finance and Controlling products and capabilities.
• Own and relentlessly prioritize a unified product backlog, making clear and decisive day-to-day decisions on what delivery teams should build next to maximize value for the Finance function.
• Act as the steward for the end-to-end user experience, working collaboratively with Finance users and delivery teams to ensure all components integrate into a coherent and effective solution.
• Define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure the success of the product against defined Finance, Controlling, planning and reporting outcomes.
• Continuously measure and communicate the value delivered by the product back to Finance and Controlling stakeholders, using data-driven insights to guide the roadmap and future priorities.
• Develop clear user stories, features and epics that effectively articulate business needs and acceptance criteria for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, controlling and reporting enhancements.
• Lead backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning and product reviews to ensure alignment between delivery teams and Finance/Controlling stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for delivery teams, providing ongoing feedback and clarification on complex financial calculations, controlling requirements, reporting needs and business processes to empower effective execution.
• Work closely with Finance and Controlling stakeholders to understand current processes, identify improvement opportunities and translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.
• Support the continuous improvement and standardisation of financial processes across the organisation, balancing local business requirements with global Finance standards.

Skills and Competencies

• Deep knowledge of product management principles and Agile methodologies, with a focus on value delivery and outcome-based planning.
• Strong understanding of Finance and Controlling processes, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, management reporting and performance analysis.
• Skilled in stakeholder management, with the ability to build consensus and champion a product vision with both Finance professionals and technical teams.
• Ability to own and prioritize a product backlog based on strategic value, user needs and return on investment within a Finance/Controlling context.
• Strong understanding of financial systems and their role in supporting Finance and Controlling processes.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively across cross-functional teams and global networks.
• Demonstrated communication skills within a multi-cultural and multi-lingual global environment.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Information Technology or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or similar role, with a focus on delivering technology solutions for Finance, Controlling or FP&A functions.
• 5+ years of experience working with financial systems, ideally within an ERP environment such as Oracle.
• Strong practical understanding of Finance and Controlling processes, particularly budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, reporting and performance management.
• 3+ years of proven experience owning a product backlog and working directly with development/delivery teams in an Agile environment.
• Experience translating complex Finance and Controlling requirements into user stories, features, epics and clear acceptance criteria. xlxgzvr
