We are currently looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join an international project supporting the European Commission.

The role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining test automation solutions, contributing to the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of web applications and digital services. You will be responsible for defining test strategies and scenarios, developing reusable automation solutions, analysing test results, and identifying opportunities to improve software quality and delivery performance.

You will work in a multicultural and international environment, collaborating with development teams, business stakeholders, and other technical professionals to ensure effective test coverage, robust automation practices, and high-quality software delivery.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities)

• Design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions for web applications and digital services.
• Develop test automation using programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent technologies.
• Define and implement comprehensive test plans, test scenarios, and test cases based on requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business processes, and identified risks.
• Apply appropriate test design techniques and methodologies according to the characteristics and risks of each application.
• Define and maintain appropriate coverage across positive and negative testing, boundary-value analysis, regression testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, exploratory testing, usability, accessibility, cross-browser compatibility, performance, and security-related checks.
• Determine the appropriate balance between manual and automated testing, prioritising scenarios according to business impact and risk.
• Design and implement scalable, reusable, maintainable, and robust test automation architectures and frameworks.
• Promote reusability and consistency across automated testing solutions.
• Analyse test execution results and identify trends, recurring defects, instability, and areas requiring improvement.
• Investigate test failures and contribute to identifying the root causes of defects and technical issues.
• Monitor quality trends over time and provide recommendations to improve software quality and delivery performance.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, risks, test scenarios, execution results, and defects.
• Collaborate with development, business, and technical teams throughout the software development and testing lifecycle.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing methodologies, automation practices, and quality processes.
• Document test strategies, automation solutions, results, findings, and relevant technical decisions.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements)

• Senior-level professional experience in software testing, quality assurance, and/or test automation.
• Strong professional experience with test automation programming using Java, Python, JavaScript, or equivalent programming languages.
• Solid experience in test planning, test scenario definition, and test design methodologies.
• Experience translating requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, business processes, and risks into comprehensive test strategies and scenarios.
• Knowledge of different test types and test levels, including regression, integration, end-to-end, exploratory, usability, accessibility, cross-browser, performance, and security testing.
• Experience designing and implementing scalable and reusable test automation architectures.
• Strong understanding of principles related to automation maintainability, robustness, reusability, extensibility, and scalability.
• Experience analysing test execution results and identifying quality trends, recurring defects, and areas of instability.
• Ability to determine appropriate levels of manual and automated test coverage based on business requirements and risk.
• Experience ensuring traceability between requirements, risks, test scenarios, execution results, and defects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate technical testing concepts clearly and work effectively with multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Professional level of English suitable for working in an international European environment.
