SoC Architect - Leuven Region (Belgium) - Permanent Position


We're currently recruiting for an experienced SoC Architect to lead the definition and architecture of complex System-on-Chip solutions.


You will work at the highest level of the digital design process, translating product and system requirements into scalable SoC architectures and defining how the different hardware and software components come together.


Working closely with digital design, verification, embedded software, analogue/mixed-signal and systems teams, you will make key architectural decisions around processing, memory, interconnect, peripherals, interfaces, performance, power and overall system functionality.


You will play a central role in establishing the technical direction of new SoC developments and ensuring that architectural decisions are carried through into implementation.


This is a technically broad role suited to an engineer who combines strong digital design expertise with the ability to understand complete systems and make architectural trade-offs.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Define and develop SoC architectures based on product and system requirements.
  • Translate high-level functionality and performance requirements into detailed hardware architectures.
  • Define the architecture and integration of CPUs, accelerators, memories, peripherals, interfaces and other IP blocks.
  • Develop system-level block diagrams, specifications and architectural documentation.
  • Define key interfaces, data paths, control structures, clocking and reset strategies.
  • Analyse performance, power, area and other system-level trade-offs.
  • Evaluate and select suitable third-party and internally developed IP.
  • Work closely with RTL designers to translate architectural concepts into implementable designs.
  • Collaborate with verification teams to establish verification requirements and ensure architectural coverage.
  • Work with embedded software teams to define hardware/software partitioning and interfaces.
  • Support technical decisions throughout the SoC development lifecycle, from architecture through to implementation and validation.
  • Identify architectural risks and drive solutions to complex technical challenges.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to digital design engineers and other development teams.


Your Profile:


  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in digital IC, ASIC or SoC development.
  • Strong understanding of digital hardware architecture and RTL design.
  • Experience with Verilog/SystemVerilog and a solid understanding of synthesizable RTL.
  • Proven experience defining or contributing to complex SoC architectures.
  • Strong understanding of CPUs, memory architectures, buses/interconnects and standard digital interfaces.
  • Experience working across the full ASIC/SoC development lifecycle.
  • Ability to understand complex system requirements and translate them into practical hardware architectures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed architectural trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
