Introduction

For Actis Isolation, we are looking for an entrepreneurial Sales Director Europe .

Are you a strong commercial people and project manager? Are you fluent in three languages (Dutch–French–English with knowledge of German being a strong plus) and willing to travel extensively across Europe? The Company

Actis Isolation has been in existence for over 40 years. This family-owned SME with more than 300 employees is part of the Laurent Thierry Group.

The company has been investing for years in its own research and development, as well as in the sales and production of innovative and sustainable insulation materials (it already holds 25 international patents). Actis has delivered impressive growth figures and is ambitious for the future.

Headquarters and four production sites are based in the South of France (Limoux). The company is active in several European countries and counts 10,000 points of sale.

Actis Isolation is characterised by an entrepreneurial company culture, with short decision-making lines and plenty of room for initiative and new ideas.

Actis Isolation aims to achieve strong turnover growth in the European markets over the coming years. This will be driven both by developing existing markets and by entering new ones, especially in Northern Europe. We are looking for an entrepreneurial Sales Director who can be the driving force behind this.

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you will report directly to the Commercial Director of the Group. You will work closely with the local Commercial Directors and Sales Teams in the UK, Italy, Spain and the Benelux. Together with them, you will ensure strong turnover growth in these markets. In addition, you will analyse and take action to develop new markets in Northern Europe.
  • After a thorough training in France, you will immerse yourself in each of the markets where Actis is already active. You should be prepared to travel about 80% of your time, ensuring sufficient presence to support the local sales teams in expanding turnover.
  • Each market has different needs, regulations, stakeholders and sales channels. You will analyse these market situations to identify requirements and opportunities. You will act as the driver and project manager, liaising with internal Actis teams (e.g. Marketing, R&D, Legal) to ensure the local teams have the tools they need to grow their markets. Where necessary, you will also take hands-on responsibility.
  • Significant growth potential also exists in new Northern European markets. You will visit these countries to understand the market and establish initial contacts. This is complex and requires attention to a variety of factors : regulations differ by country, as do government subsidy schemes for insulation products. Securing the necessary certifications and engaging with relevant authorities is often the first step. From there, you will develop a commercial strategy for each country and, together with HR, recruit and build the local sales teams.
  • You will begin with a comprehensive onboarding programme at the company. You will get to know Actis’s products and production sites and gain in-depth knowledge of their technical aspects and USPs. You will also build a network within the company so that you know whom to turn to for support. This training includes an intensive 10-day stay in France. Afterwards, you can rely on excellent coaching and support from Actis Isolation’s Commercial Director.
  • In short, this is a stimulating, high-level role that demands relevant experience with complex markets, as well as strong people and project management skills. The role requires frequent travel, with weekly presence in at least one of your markets. You will have the autonomy and flexibility to organise this effectively. Communication and stakeholder management are crucial, as you will be expected to conduct complex discussions and negotiations with stakeholders at all levels.

Your Profile

  • You hold a master’s-level degree or equivalent by experience (we are not hung up on diplomas).
  • Experience in the construction sector is a must.
  • Leadership experience in a sales context is essential.
  • You are fluent in Dutch, French and English. German is a strong asset.
  • You are willing to travel across Europe (living centrally located is an advantage).
  • You adapt your communication style to different stakeholders.
  • You are a self-starter who brings structure and sets clear priorities.
  • You are results-driven, but not at all costs.
  • You enjoy complex, project-driven challenges.
  • You are confident with figures and cost calculations.
  • You are an excellent networker, both internally and externally.
